News & Articles

When you are as innovative as Glosfume, there's always plenty to talk about. Here's the latest news from the leaders in hot gas filtration systems and high temperature ceramic air filters.

Rushlight Awards Winner 2010

May 2011 Glosfume’s 21st Birthday

Glosfume awarded the 2010 Rushlight Air Pollution Technology Award

I wish to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers and staff who have enabled Glosfume to win this award.

REACH is to promote the use of alternative methods for the assessment of possible hazardous properties of substances.  In response Glosfume have started manufacturing elements from soluble fibre.  With the use of different binder formulations we have been able to form a stronger element with a lower pressure drop. The elements are on test and should be available mid 2011.

Ceramic Filters for Biomass Wood Fired Boilers

Sheffield Council were the first council to install district heating system with Glosfume Ceramic Filters. Two boilers, each rated at 500kW, supply 340 flats.  Flue gas testing is to be carried out and it is expected to be less than 3g/GJ particulate, 90% below the current limit.

Thermal Oxidiser Filter

HTMC6(400) to control emissions from a thermal oxidiser, operating at 350oC sodium bicarbonate dry scrubbing system removes HCl and other acid gases.  NOx emissions are removed by a patented catalytic convertor fitted after the ceramic filter.  The process is used to destroy waste producing process steam for use within the factory.

Fabrication Shop Set Up

In July 2009 Ray, a coded welder, joins Glosfume to set up a small fabrication shop to fabricate Biomass Filters from 20kW to 1MW.  Pulse jet MIG welding is used to produce welds of the highest standard.  As normal each part of the filter is laser cut to ensure accuracy between elements and reverse jet clean down system.

Glosfume Filter Systems Longevity

In July 1999 Glosfume supplied a HTMC6(400) to Nottingham Metal Recyclers Ltd.  In 2002 N.M.R closed down, the filter was then sold to Burnard Metals Ltd, then to McIntyre Machinery and then to Factory Yard.  Eleven years later an Irish company bought the filter and refurbished it which is now as good as new.  The filter is on the back end of a gasifier.
